Outdoors Wedding in the Shropshire Hills

What an AMAZING location for a wedding ceremony. The view of Shropshire and beyond was breath taking!

As a Shropshire Wedding Photographer, I am spoilt for choice when it comes to amazing wedding venues on my own doorstep. Your wedding day does not have to take place indoors…with views like the ones from the Shropshire Hills, and in this case the Long Mynd, I can see why many people choose to have an outdoors wedding ceremony.

When I first heard from Beth and Andy they told me this…

“We want our wedding to be outdoorsy, rural, full of hill views (with the blessing ceremony potentially at the top of the Long Mynd or alternatively in a woodland...wellies will be needed.). I want plenty of quirky touches but different to other people's quirky things (I will try my best to make that possible!). We hope the wedding breakfast will be a Ploughmans accompanied by barrels of local brewed beer and cider, with an accordionist around at some point, and then a party into the night.”

This was like music to my ears! I LOVE QUIRKY. Weddings with a quirky touch are just amazing. I love unconventional weddings…weddings with a personal touch that make it as unique as every person and every couple are just the best!

When Beth and Andy first contacted me to potentially be their wedding photographer, they told me that photography was extremely important to them. “Before we started planning we did a quiz between us to see what each of our priorities were for the day, and photography was number two (after venue at number one) out of seventeen choices.” - I love hearing things like this…when couples truly value the importance of great wedding photography. It was such a huge honour to be chosen by Beth and Andy to be their photographer for their Shropshire wedding, especially when photography was so important to them!

It was a magical ceremony, which was conducted by the lovely Carole from Shropshire Ceremonies, who I have had the pleasure of working with on several occasions.

An outdoors wedding ceremony like this, conducted by a celebrant like Carole, lends itself perfectly for capturing natural, fun moments without you having to pose for the camera, which is perfect for a documentary wedding photographer.

With the effect of Covid-19 on the wedding industry in 2020, I have been revisiting some of our favourite weddings from the last few years…and have also had more time to blog. Beth and Andy’s wedding took place in 2017, and I still have very fond memories of the day.

Here are a few photos capturing some of our favourite moments from Beth and Andy's magical wedding day in the Shropshire Hills.

If you would like me to be your wedding photographer in Shropshire I would love to hear from you.
